How to configure eyeBeam or X-Lite softphone?

Here you may find instruction how to configure the latest softphones from counterpath.com:
X-Lite 3.0
eyeBeam 1.5

This instructions is for use when you are within your office LAN.

1. Ask you Xeepe PBX administrator next information:
XeepePbxIP
DomainName
UserName
UserPassword
Replace Italic text below with these values.

2. Install eyeBeam or X-Lite

3. Create SIP account
Account tab:
User name field: enter UserName
Password field: enter UserPassword
Authorization user name field: enter UserName (the same as for User name field)
Domain: DomainName

Check “Register with domain and receive incoming call” checkbox
Select “Proxy” in “Send outbound via” radiobutton.
Enter XeepePbxIP in Address field.

Voicemail tab
Uncheck “Check for voice mail”

Topology tab
Select “Use local IP address”
Select “Use specified server” and enter "stun2.xeepe.com"
Check “Enable ICE”

Presence tab
Select “Pear-to-Pear” Mode

Storage tab
Select “Local” storage method

Security tab
Select “Automatic” signaling transport

Save your account. Your phone will start network discovering and registration process.
In case of success you will see “Ready” message.
Congratulations! Now you are ready to call.

How to configure eyeBeam or X-Lite softphone when I'm out of the office?

This instructions is for use when you are "out-of-the-office".

1. Ask you Xeepe PBX administrator next information:
DomainName
UserName
UserPassword
Replace Italic text below with these values.

2. Install eyebeam or X-Lite

3. Create SIP account
Account tab:
User name field: enter UserName
Password field: enter UserPassword
Authorization user name field: enter UserName (the same as for User name field)
Domain: DomainName

Check “Register with domain and receive incoming call” checkbox
Select “Proxy” in “Send outbound via” radiobutton.
Enter "DomainName;transport=TCP" in Address field.

Voicemail tab
Uncheck “Check for voice mail”

Topology tab
Select “Discover Global address”
Select “Use specified server” and enter "stun2.xeepe.com"
Check “Enable ICE”

Presence tab
Select “Pear-to-Pear” Mode

Storage tab
Select “Local” storage method

Security tab
Select “Automatic” signaling transport

Save your account. Your phone will start network discovering and registration process.
In case of success you will see “Ready” message.
Congratulations! Now you are ready to call.

May I use Xeepe without Internet connection?

The short answer - yes.
It is important features of Xeepe PBX.
You will be able to make internal and PSTN calls.
You will temporary loose only features provided by Xeepe Proxy Service

If your Internet connection fails for long time you will need to download the latest xeepe.key file manually from http://xeepe.com/my_trial page.

What are the requirements for Xeepe PC?

In order to install Xeepe on your computer you will need:

  • Windows XP SP2
  • Fixed IP address for this computer, no DHCP client enabled!
  • ISDN card with CAPI drivers
  • Xeepe key file
  • Xeepe installer

It may be usual office computer, not dedicated to Xeepe.

Also we recomend to use X-Lite or eyeBeam SIP softphones from www.counterpath.com

What is Xeepe Proxy Service?

Xeepe Proxy is important component of Xeepe network. It
- offers free communications between all Xeepe users.
- facilitates all SIP communication with users hosted by another SIP compliant providers.
- provides support for "out-of-office" Xeepe users.
- solves most of all NAT/Firewall traversal issues for SIP traffic.
- cheap calls to any phone numbers, cooming soon

Why I need xeepe.key?

xeepe.key file is you key to Xeepe!
Without this file customer cannot use Xeepe.

It contains some important information:
- License expiration date
- Customer subdomain which will be used to build users’ SIP addresses
- Number of ISDN lines allowed to use
- Encrypted signature
- Technical information how to connect to Xeepe Proxy Service

Customers receive xeepe.key file in e-mail after successful trial requests or order.

When your xeepe.key became expired we will issue the new version if you allowed for trial or buy our Xeepe Service.
You must not take care about downloading of newest version of xeepe.key.
Xeepe does it for you.

What is ISDN?

ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network.

What is CAPI?

CAPI stands for Common ISDN Application Programming Interface, an API providing access to the ISDN communications protocol. See description on the official CAPI site

Xeepe PBX works with ISDN hadrware which have CAPI 2.0 drivers.

How can I access my Xeepe preferences page?

At the moment it is possible to access Xeepe user preference page usually only within your office LAN. Your network administrator may provide you instructions how to do it from outside of the LAN if it is possible.

Please ask your Xeepe administrator the IP address of the PC with Xeepe installed. You will also need username/password - the same as used for your SIP phone.
For example admin give you 192.168.0.1 address.
Open your preferable browser and type in http://192.168.0.1 into address bar.

You will see Welcome to Xeepe page.
Click to User settings. Enter user name/password.
Bookmark it for later use.

Usually Xeepe PBX uses standard HTTP port for its web interface. However, administrator may decide to install Xeepe with custom http port, for example 1080. In this case you will need to use URL like http://192.168.0.1:1080 to access Xeepe preferences.

What is absence profile?

Absence profile defines your Forwarding and Answering Machine behavior.
You may have any number of Absence profiles, but only one active.

Also you may use one of the Shared Absence Profile.
Ordinal user cannot create, change and remove Shared Absence Profile.

What is Shared Announcement?

Shared Announcement is one or more voice greeting managed by Xeepe administrator.
Ordinal Xeepe user cannot create, modify or remove Shared announcement.
But you may select one to use in your personal Answering Machine.

How to configure eyeBeam or X-Lite softphone for using with Xeepe OpenSIP Service?

1. Install and start eyeBeam 1.5 or X-Lite 3.0

2. Right-click somewhere on the softphone, select "SIP account settings..." and press "Add" button. You will see new account dialog.

Account tab:
User name field: enter your xeepe.com username
Password field: enter enter your xeepe.com password
Authorization user name field: your xeepe.com username (the same as for User name field)
Domain: sip.xeepe.com
Please pay attention - username and password are case sensetive!

Check “Register with domain and receive incoming call” checkbox
Select “Proxy” in “Send outbound via” radiobutton.
Enter sip.xeepe.com;transport=TCP in Address field.

Voicemail tab:
Uncheck “Check for voice mail”

Topology tab:
Select “Discover global address”
